- On Jan 1 2005, a man immolated himself in a Brooklyn apartment causing a fire responsible for the deaths of several children. One of the survivors, Juni Gerard was hospitalized for severe burns.
The day after the fire, Joseph Gerard (Juni's brother) received a call notifying him that his sister had succumbed to her wounds and perished. The photo was taken a moment after the call and depicts a friend, Jane Constantine, comforting Mr. Gerard. Hours later, it was discovered the phone call was a prank call.
